Gold futures settle lower for third straight session on Monday

Gold futures settled lower for the third straight session on Monday and marked seventh consecutive monthly loss. The yellow metal investments got saddled amid woes over Federal Reserve decision late this week and on stronger dollar.

Gold futures for December down by $4.10 or 0.3% to settle at $1640.70 ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile. However, spot gold up by $3.99 or 0.24 % or $ 1,637.55 per ounce.
