Asian markets settle mostly higher on Friday

04 Nov 2022 Evaluate
Asian markets settled mostly higher on Friday, with Chinese and Hong Kong shares surged on continued rumours that the country plans to scale back covid-related restrictions. Meanwhile, Japan's services sector activity grew at the fastest clip in four months in October. However, Japanese shares ended sharply lower in post-holiday trading following negative close from Wall Street overnight. The fourth straight 75-basis point interest rate hike by the US Federal Reserve and the hawkish comments from central bank Chair Jerome Powell makes investors cautious.
