Asian markets end higher on Monday

07 Nov 2022 Evaluate
Asian markets ended higher on Monday, despite caution ahead of US consumer price data due later this week. Japanese shares rallied by tracking a strong performance on Wall Street last Friday with expectations that the US Federal Reserve will slow its pace of interest rate hikes. Hong Kong and Chinese shares gained, even after China reiterated its commitment to maintaining strict covid-related restrictions and data showed further deterioration in China's trade balance in October. Meanwhile, the White House is privately encouraging Ukraine's leaders to signal an openness to negotiate with Russia in order to calm fear of long war.
