GlaxoSmithkline Pharma rises on plan of entering into India-specific alliance

Glaxosmithkline Pharmaceuticals is currently trading at Rs. 2043.15, up by 3.40 points or 0.17% from its previous closing of Rs. 2039.75 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 2049.00 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 2065.00 and Rs. 2049.00 respectively. So far 160 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 2338.00 on 30-Mar-2012 and a 52 week low of Rs. 1916.00 on 04-Jul-2012.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 2087.90 and Rs. 2005.00 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 17434.42 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 50.67% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 34.02% and 15.32% respectively. Multinational drug-maker, GlaxoSmithkline Pharmaceuticals has decided to enter into India-specific alliance, which will be for a product that is a new area for the company. With this decision to bring in niche products from other drug-majors through in-licensing deals, the company aims to expand the operations locally.

The entity’s existing alliances in the local market include ones with Daiichi-Sankyo on hypertensive Olmesartan Medoxomil, and with Astellas on anti-fungal drug Micafungin.
