State run, SAIL’s Durgapur steel plant has registered a 5% growth in saleable steel production in January over that in the first month of last year. It has also achieved higher output in all major categories such as hot metal, crude steel, continuous casting, blend mix and sinter, in the just concluded month.
During January, in the finished steel category, the outputs of medium, structural and earthquake resistant TMT bars were at 104% and 100% of monthly targets. In April 2012 and January 2013 period, the plant registered 6% growth in saleable steel production.
