Rupee strengthens marginally against US dollar on Tuesday

Indian rupee strengthened marginally against the US dollar on Tuesday, tracking firm domestic equities and as the American currency retreated from its strong overnight gains. Meanwhile, fears of a return to stricter covid restriction measures in China and foreign fund outflows weighed down rupee sentiments and restricted gains. Report showed that rating agencies Crisil and Icra revised down their India growth projections for the current fiscal and the second quarter also adding pressure on Indian rupee. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) were net sellers in the capital markets on Monday as they offloaded shares worth Rs 1,593.83 crore, exchange data showed. 

The partially convertible currency is currently trading at 81.77, stronger by 2 paise from its previous close of 81.79 on Monday. The currency touched a high and low of 81.8325 and 81.6525 respectively.
