Bond yields edges lower on Thursday

24 Nov 2022 Evaluate

Bond yields edged lower on Thursday after Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) showed that Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) equity inflows into India contracted by 14 per cent to USD 26.9 billion during the April-September this fiscal. The inflows had stood at USD 31.15 billion during the corresponding period of the previous year.

In the global market, U.S. Treasury yields retreated on Wednesday after minutes of the Federal Reserve's latest policy meeting showed U.S. central bankers looking to soon moderate the pace of interest rate hikes. Furthermore, oil prices rose on Wednesday as data showing a larger-than-expected U.S. crude drawdown last week outweighed concerns about lower demand from China.

Back home, the yields on new 10 year Government Stock were trading 3 basis points lower at 7.26% from its previous close of 7.29% on Wednesday.

The benchmark five-year interest rates were trading 5 basis points lower at 7.12% from its previous close of 7.17% on Wednesday.
