Indian rupee weakened against the US dollar on Monday, tracking weak domestic equities and ahead of the Reserve Bank of India's monetary policy decision due later in the week. However, weakness in American currency in the overseas market and robust foreign fund inflows into Indian equities, restricted the rupee’s fall. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) were net buyers in the capital markets on Friday as they purchased shares worth Rs 214.76 crore, exchange data showed.

The partially convertible currency is currently trading at 81.59, weaker by 26 paise from its previous close of 81.33 on Friday. The currency touched a high and low of 81.5950 and 81.2550 respectively.
