Indian rupee strengthened against the US dollar on Thursday in line with stronger Asian currencies overseas, despite potential recession concerns in the United States. Further, slide in crude oil prices also supported rupee sentiments. However, muted domestic equities following RBI’s revision of Repo Rate and foreign fund outflows, capped further gains in rupee. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) were net sellers in the capital markets on Wednesday as they offloaded shares worth Rs 1,241.87 crore, exchange data showed.

The partially convertible currency is currently trading at 82.31, stronger by 16 paise from its previous close of 82.47 on Wednesday. The currency touched a high and low of 82.38 and 82.28 respectively.
