Rupee weakens against US dollar on Monday

Indian rupee weakened against the US dollar on Monday tracking strength of the American currency at overseas market and ahead of highly awaited signals on US monetary policy from Federal Reserve meeting and the latest reading on consumer inflation. Besides, foreign fund outflows and rising crude oil prices also impacted rupee sentiments. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) were net sellers in the capital markets on Friday as they offloaded shares worth Rs 158.01 crore, exchange data.

The partially convertible currency is currently trading at 82.68, weaker by 40 paise from its previous close of 82.28 on Friday. The currency touched a high and low of 82.7050 and 82.54 respectively.
