Bhupendra Patel today took oath as the 18th Chief minister (CM) of Gujarat following the BJP’s seventh consecutive victory in the state’s Legislative Assembly elections. The oath was administered by Governor Acharya Devvrat at the helipad ground inside the new secretariat complex in Gandhinagar this afternoon. The swearing-in ceremony was attended by PM Narendra Modi and top BJP leaders, including Union ministers and chief ministers of state ruled by the party.
Patel took the oath for the second straight term as the CM. He resigned as CM along with his entire cabinet on Friday to pave the way for the formation of a new government following the election results. Patel won the Ghatlodia seat with the highest margin of 1.92 lakh votes in the elections. He first took the oath in September 2021 as the CM, replacing Vijay Rupani.
Sixteen cabinet ministers also took oath alongside Bhupendra Patel today. In the just-concluded Gujarat Assembly elections, the BJP won a seventh straight term by winning record 156 seats in the 182-member House.
