Soybean meal exports rises by 28.07% in January, 2013

The soybean meal exports during the month of January, 2013 stood at 620,133 tonnes as compared to 484,195 tones in January, 2012, an increase by 28.07% over the last year, as per the reports compiled by the Soybean Processors Association of India (SOPA).

On the other hand, the export of soybean meal during April 2012 to January 2013 period stood at 2,536,062 metric tonnes (MT) as compared to 3,082,267 MT in the same period of previous year, a drop of 17.72%.

During current Oil year, October - September period, exports during October 2012 to January 2013 stood at 1,698,984 MT compared to 1,953,415 MT last year, showing a decrease by 13.02%. The data which does not include exports to Pakistan, Nepal and Bangladesh by rail or road, has been collected and compiled by SOPA based on the information received from the members, port authorities and other agencies.

On the global front, during the period April 2012 to January 2013, South Korea has imported 765,635 tonnes of oilmeal compared to 609,883 tonnes in the corresponding period of the previous year. Vietnam has imported 538,863 tonnes of oilmeal as compared to 786,595 tonnes in the previous year while Japan has imported 463,222 tonnes of oilmeal.
