Gold futures finished sharply higher on Tuesday, marking five-month high amid accelerated bets over trimming the pace of Fed interest rate hikes followed by a dimmer than expected November CPI data. Moreover, subdued dollar and US Treasury bond yield notes also supported the yellow metal in the session.
Gold futures for February widened by $33.20 or 1.9% to $1825.50 ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile. Spot gold rose by $11.19 or 0.62% to $1,808.82 per ounce.
