Indian rupee strengthened against the US dollar on Thursday amid foreign fund inflows as foreign institutional investors (FIIs) were net buyers in capital markets on Wednesday as they bought shares worth Rs 372.16 crore, exchange data showed. Meanwhile, the US Federal Reserve raised interest rates by an expected 50 basis points, but projected higher interest rates for a longer period to fight inflation. However, a strong American currency overseas and losses in the domestic equity markets, limited further gains in rupee.

The partially convertible currency is currently trading at 82.45, stronger by 4 paise from its previous close of 82.49 on Wednesday. The currency touched a high and low of 82.66 and 82.45 respectively.
