Rupee weakens against US dollar on Tuesday

20 Dec 2022 Evaluate
Indian rupee weakened against the US dollar on Tuesday following sell-off in domestic equities amid foreign fund outflows. Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) were net sellers in the capital market on Monday as they sold shares worth Rs 538.10 crore, exchange data showed. Moreover, rising crude prices in global markets also weighed rupee sentiments. Although, a weak American currency against major rivals overseas restricted further fall of the rupee.

The partially convertible currency is currently trading at 82.82, weaker by 20 paise from its previous close of 82.62 on Monday. The currency touched a high and low of 82.83 and 82.69 respectively.
