Bond yields edged flat on Wednesday after Reserve Bank Governor Shaktikanta Das said underlying economic activity in India continues to be strong, but external factors will cause some dent to the economy.

In the global market, U.S. Treasury yields climbed Tuesday after the Bank of Japan raised its cap on 10-year Japanese government bond yields to 0.5% from 0.25%. Furthermore, oil prices ended higher on Tuesday in a volatile session as a worsening outlook for a major U.S. winter storm sparked fears that millions of Americans might curb travel plans during the holiday season.

Back home, the yields on new 10 year Government Stock were trading flat with its previous close of 7.29% on Tuesday.

The benchmark five-year interest rates were trading 1 basis point higher at 7.19% from its previous close of 7.18% on Tuesday.
