Indian rupee strengthened against the US dollar on Friday, tracking a firm trend in domestic equities, despite sustained foreign fund outflows in the capital market. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) were net sellers in the capital markets on Thursday as they offloaded shares worth Rs 572.78 crore, exchange data showed. However, the US Federal Reserve's aggressive monetary policy tightening, surging covid cases in China and concerns about the global growth outlook, capped further gains in rupee.

The partially convertible currency is currently trading at 82.76, stronger by 11 paise from its previous close of 82.87 on Thursday. The currency touched a high and low of 82.7750 and 82.7100 respectively.
