Asian markets end mostly higher on Thursday

19 Jan 2023 Evaluate
Asian markets ended mostly higher on Thursday with Chinese shares gaining after IMF Deputy Director Gita Gopinath said that China could see a sharp recovery in economic growth from the second quarter onwards. However, renewed worries about a recession in the United States limited further gains in Asian equities. Japanese shares dropped from one-month highs tracking overnight falls in Wall Street following hawkish comments on interest rate hikes from St. Louis Fed President James Bullard and Cleveland Fed President Loretta Mester.
