Copper futures settled higher on Friday, supported by improved demand and ahead of the upcoming Lunar New Year week-long holiday in China. However, global recession worries limited gains in copper prices.
Copper futures for March delivery gained $0.02 to settle at $4.2515 a pound on the comex metals division of New York Mercantile Exchange. Copper on the London Metal Exchange was up by 0.2 percent at $9,324 a ton.
