Curtains down on Congress yatra with flag unfurling amid heavy snowfall

The closing ceremony of Congress's Bharat Jodo Yatra was held today at the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) headquarters in Srinagar with the hoisting of the national flag in the presence of party leaders Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra amid a fresh snowfall in the city. Several party leaders were present during the hoisting ceremony at the party office.

The closing ceremony was followed by a rally led by Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and party chief Mallikarjun Kharge began from the Sher-e-Kashmir Cricket Stadium and was joined by representatives from DMK, NC, PDP, CPI, RSP and IUML. With the rally, the curtains have come down on the yatra that began on September 7 from Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu and has covered 4,080 km through 12 states and two union territories. During this yathra, Rahul Gandhi addressed 12 public meetings, over 100 corner meetings, 13 press conferences. He had over 275 planned walking interactions and more than 100 sitting interactions.

In a brief address to the ‘Bharat Yatris’, Rahul Gandhi thanked them for their love, affection and support through the 136-day foot March. At the event, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said that Bharat Jodo Yatra was not for winning elections but against hate.
