Rupee weakens against US dollar on Tuesday

Indian rupee weakened against the US dollar on Tuesday, tracking muted trend in domestic equities ahead of budget presentation and global central bank policy meetings. Moreover, the Adani crisis and significant foreign fund outflows also impacted rupee sentiments. Foreign institutional investors (FII) sold shares worth a net Rs 6,792.8 crore while domestic institutional investors (DII) bought shares worth a net Rs 5,512.63 crore on Monday, exchange data showed.

The partially convertible currency is currently trading at 81.68, weaker by 16 paise from its previous close of 81.52 on Monday. The currency touched a high and low of 81.71 and 81.61 respectively.
