India's largest consumer goods company, Hindustan Unilever’s (HUL) parent company, Unilever PLC, reportedly is planning to invest Euro 50 million in Aerosols Deodorant Unit in India.
Hindustan Unilever had back in June 2012, revealed that Unilever is in the process of implementing a project to establish a world class deodorants manufacturing facility in India and this plant will provide regular supply of high quality deodorant products to service markets across the world, including India. Currently, HUL imports a large portion of deodorants as aerosols.
HUL owns 35 brands spanning 20 distinct categories and manufactures popular products like RIN, Lux, Sunsilk, Kissan and Ponds, among others. The company is owned by the British-Dutch company Unilever which controls 52% majority stake.
