BJP raises allegation against Justice Katju remarks

Allegations have been raised by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Press Council of India Chairman Justice Markandey Katju's remarks against Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, calling his opinion 'unsolicited' and 'bizarre'. BJP spokesperson Rajiv Pratap Rudy accused Katju of being biased and demanded his resignation.

Congress hit back at Jaitley for demanding Justice Katju's resignation over his remarks on Gujarat and Chief Minister Narendra Modi, saying the latter cannot be accused of being partisan. Rudy, however, maintained that Jaitley had made an apt statement that Katju was carrying the brief of the Congress party and asked him to resign.

Justice Katju had, in an opinion, critizied Modi and his policies noting that there is still a mystery of what happened in Godhra. He had also said that he found it hard to believe 'hat Modi had no hand in 2002, referring to the post-Godhra riots.
