HeidelbergCement India invests Rs 1,500 crore for capacity expansion

HeidelbergCement India has invested about Rs 1,500 crore, in order to raise its all-India production capacity to about 6 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) from 3.1 mtpa. On February 18, 2013, the company enhanced clinker capacity to 3.1 mtpa from 1.2 mtpa and cement grinding capacity to two mtpa (one mtpa) at Imlai, both in Madhya Pradesh.

With this expansion, company has taken the first major step to increase the company’s presence in India and it aims to target the states with potential for significant growth.

Heidelberg Cement India is one of the leading producers of building materials worldwide. The company manufactures portland slag cement and portland pozzolana cement. The company has manufacturing facilities located at Ammasandra (Karnataka), Damoh (MP) and Jhansi (UP) and has total production capacity of 5.9 million tonnes per annum.
