Copper futures settled down on Wednesday after US Fed officials said more interest rate hikes are on the cards in the central bank's efforts to bring down inflation. However, a weaker US dollar makes copper cheaper for buyers using other currencies.
Copper futures for March delivery lost $0.0450 to settle at $4.0355 a pound on the comex metals division of New York Mercantile Exchange. Copper on the London Metal Exchange was down by 0.36 percent at $8,892.50 a ton.
