Copper futures settled higher on Thursday, supported by a weaker American dollar with expectations of less aggressive hikes in interest rates by the US Federal Reserve and other central banks. Moreover, worries over supply disruptions from major producers also supported red metal prices’ uptrend.

Copper futures for March delivery gained $0.0615 to settle at $4.0970 a pound on the comex metals division of New York Mercantile Exchange. Copper on the London Metal Exchange was up by 1.02 percent at $8,983 a ton.
