Asian markets settle mostly lower on Monday

Asian markets settled mostly lower on Monday ahead of US consumer price data that could provide more clues on the US Fed’s monetary policy stance. Moreover, concerns over rising political tensions and sanctions between the United States and China weighed on market sentiments. Reports showing that an American F-16 fighter jet shot down another object over Lake Huron on Sunday on orders from President Joe Biden. It was the fourth object shot out of the sky by American fighter jet in eight days. Although, Chinese shares gained after data showed new bank loans rose more than estimated to a record 4.9 trillion yuan ($720.21 billion) in January.
