Rupee strengthens marginally against US dollar on Tuesday

Indian rupee strengthened marginally against the US dollar on Tuesday as the American currency weakened at the overseas markets ahead of key US inflation data due later in the day. Moreover, fresh foreign fund inflows into capital market also supported rupee sentiments. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) were net buyers in the capital market on Monday as they purchased shares worth Rs 1,322.39 crore, exchange data showed. Although, data showed that India’s retail inflation shot up to 6.52 percent in January against 5.72 percent in December 2022.

The partially convertible currency is currently trading at 82.69, stronger by 1 paise from its previous close of 82.70 on Monday. The currency touched a high and low of 82.7150 and 82.5700 respectively.
