Asian markets settled mostly lower on Wednesday on account of higher-than-expected inflation data in the United States, which fuelled concerns that the US Federal Reserve would keep hiking interest rates to battle inflation. Chinese shares declined on account of geopolitical tensions between the United States and China. Moreover, Japanese shares dropped, despite expectations that the next central bank governor will not rush to change monetary policy.
