Asian markets settle mostly higher on Thursday

16 Feb 2023 Evaluate
Asian markets settled mostly higher on Thursday, tracking Wall Street gains overnight after stronger-than-expected retail sales data provided more evidence of resilience in the US economy. Japanese shares gained as a weaker yen boosted investors' risk appetite. Hong Kong shares rose after Micheal Burry’s Scion Asset Management fund revealed it had taken positions in Chinese technology giants Alibaba and JD.com. Moreover, affirmations of more stimulus measures from China also boosted market sentiments.
