Rupee weakens against US dollar on Tuesday

Indian rupee weakened against the US dollar on Tuesday, weighed down by a firmer American currency at overseas markets and cautious ahead of the US Federal Reserve minutes. Moreover, Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) were net sellers in the capital markets on Monday as they offloaded shares worth Rs 158.95 crore, exchange data showed. However, firm domestic equities and easing crude oil prices supported rupee and restricted its losses to some extent.

The partially convertible currency is currently trading at 82.75, weaker by 2 paise from its previous close of 82.73 on Monday. The currency touched a high and low of 82.7825 and 82.74 respectively.
