Copper futures settled lower on Thursday on demand concerns with expectations of prolonged interest rates hikes in the United States. A firmer US dollar also makes copper more expensive for holders of other currencies. However, ongoing supply disruptions across the globe, limited further fall in copper prices.
Copper futures for March delivery lost $0.1315 to settle at $4.0590 a pound on the comex metals division of New York Mercantile Exchange. Copper on the London Metal Exchange was down by 2.28 percent at $8,904 a ton.
