Asian markets settle down on Monday

20 Mar 2023 Evaluate
Asian markets settled down on Monday driven by Wall Street’s fall last Friday with concerns about turmoil in the US banking sector and caution ahead of the US Federal Reserve meeting this week. Meanwhile, the US Federal Reserve is expected to deliver 25 basis point rate hike in light of easing inflationary pressures. Chinese shares declined as the country's central bank PBoC left its interest rates unchanged, but cut the CRR by 25 basis points to stimulate its economy. Moreover, Japanese shares dropped, despite a weekend rescue deal for Swiss lender Credit Suisse.
