Copper futures settle higher on weak dollar

21 Mar 2023 Evaluate
Copper futures settled higher on Monday as the US dollar weakened against its peers, which makes copper more attractive to buyers holding other currencies. Copper prices improved further on signs of improving demand from China, despite global financial crisis. Although, investors are cautiously awaiting interest rate decisions from the US Federal Reserve on Wednesday.

Copper futures for May delivery gained $0.0590 to settle at $3.9515 a pound on the Comex metals division of New York Mercantile Exchange. Copper on the London Metal Exchange was up by 1.37 percent at $8,697.50 a ton.
