Indian rupee weakened against the US dollar on Tuesday tracking firm American currency at overseas markets, while investors are cautiously awaiting the interest rate decision by the US Federal Reserve on Wednesday. Moreover, Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) were net sellers in the domestic capital market on Monday as they offloaded shares worth Rs 2,545.87 crore, exchange data showed. However, firm domestic equities following temporary relief from Credit Suisse rescue and declining crude oil prices, capped the fall in rupee.

The partially convertible currency is currently trading at 82.65, weaker by 9 paise from its previous close of 82.56 on Monday. The currency touched a high and low of 82.66 and 82.56 respectively.
