J&K parliament adjourns on uproar over Afzal Guru's hanging

Over the uproar of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) demand to discuss parliament attack convict Afzal Guru's hanging, the Jammu and Kashmir assembly was adjourned on March 1. Members of the ruling National Conference (NC), as also the lone Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) member, too joined the demand. 

This was followed with the resolution moved by an independent MLA of J&K seeking the return of Guru's body. Meanwhile, normal life in Kashmir was also affected on Friday due to a strike called by a group of separatists in the Valley, demanding return of Guru's body to his family.

Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru was hanged and buried in the premises of Tihar Jail in Delhi on February 9. Since his execution, there have been demands from Jammu and Kashmir that the body should be handed over to his family.
