Rupee strengthens against US dollar on Friday

Indian rupee strengthened against the US dollar on Friday amid foreign fund inflows into capital market following easing of the banking contagion fears, with data showed Foreign Institutional Investors bought shares worth Rs 1,245.39 crore on March 29. Moreover, gains in domestic equities and a fall in crude oil prices also supported rupee sentiment. Although, firm American currency limited further gains in rupee. Meanwhile, the forex market was closed yesterday for Ram Navami.

The partially convertible currency is currently trading at 82.20, stronger by 14 paise from its previous close of 82.34 on Wednesday. The currency touched a high and low of 82.2425 and 82.09 respectively.
