Nitish Kumar, Tejashwi Yadav meet Rahul Gandhi, Kharge; Opposition unity on agenda

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and his deputy Tejashwi Yadav today met Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi at Kharge's residence in Delhi.

The meeting comes amid talks of Opposition unity ahead of the 2024 general elections. JDU president Rajiv Ranjan Singh, RJD's Rajya Sabha MP Manoj Kumar Jha and Congress leader Salman Khursheed were also present at the meeting. They pledged to take all opposition parties together for a united front against the BJP.

Addressing the media, Mallikarjun Kharge said this was a historic meeting and it was decided to unite all parties to fight upcoming polls together. He has spoken to several opposition leaders earlier in an attempt to unite like-minded parties to defeat the BJP in next year's Lok Sabha elections. He has reached out to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin and former Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray, and may have a meeting with top opposition leaders in the coming weeks. Rahul Gandhi said a ‘historic step’ had been taken to unite Opposition parties; it is a process, will develop Opposition's vision for country.
