Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Ajit Pawar today denied that he was planning to move to the BJP with his supporters, accusing the media of ‘spreading rumours without any reason’.
Ajit Pawar said that there is no truth in the news and called it ‘baseless’. He also dismissed as false the reports that he has called a meeting of MLAs on Tuesday. ‘There is no truth to any rumour. I am with the NCP and I will stay with the NCP,’ Pawar said while addressing the media amid reports of rift with Sharad Pawar. He stated that such rumours were being spread intentionally and attention was being diverted from key issues such as unemployment and farmers' problems. He also denied taking signatures of any MLA of his party.
Earlier today, Nationalist Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar also dismissed rumours about his nephew and senior party leader Ajit Pawar’s next political move and said no meeting of NCP MLAs has been called by anyone. He said Ajit Pawar was busy with the party’s work and that there was no need for the media to drag the issue.
