Production of natural rubber drops by 4.68% in February

The production of natural rubber has seen a drop of 4.68% and stood at 61,000 tonne in February, while consumption of natural rubber fell by 9.05% and stood at 73,000 tonne during last month, as per the data compiled by Rubber Board. Last year in the month of February, the production stood at 64,000 tonne and consumption at 80,265 tonne.

For the month of February 2013, the import of natural rubber witnessed a drop of 61.26% and stood at 9,497 tonne compared to 24,519 tonne in February 2012, while exports jumped seven-fold to 6,650 tonne from 951 tonne during the period under review.

During the April-February period of this fiscal, consumption of rubber has increased merely by 0.9% to 890,060 tonne, while the production has risen by 0.3% to 851,200 tonne.
