Asian markets settle mostly higher on Monday

08 May 2023 Evaluate
Asian markets settled mostly higher on Monday ahead to inflation data from the world’s largest economies due this week. Chinese and Hong Kong shares gained by tracking Wall Street's firm finish last Friday. However, Japanese shares declined on renewed concerns over the Japanese yen's sharp rise versus the US dollar. Strong US employment data also added to worries that persisting high inflation might push the US Federal Reserve to raise interest rates further.
