Indian rupee weakened against the US dollar on Wednesday, despite sustained foreign fund inflows into the capital market. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) were net buyers in the capital markets on Tuesday as they bought shares worth Rs 1,406.86 crore, exchange data showed. Meanwhile, weakness in domestic equities, rising oil prices, strength of the American currency at overseas markets, and caution ahead the outcome of debt-ceiling negotiations in Washington have added pressure on rupee to slide.

The partially convertible currency is currently trading at 82.40, weaker by 15 paise from its previous close of 82.25 on Tuesday. The currency touched a high and low of 82.4075 and 82.2950 respectively.
