Asian markets settled mixed on Tuesday tracking mixed closing of Wall Street stocks overnight. Hawkish comments from US Federal Reserve officials on interest rates also kept investors cautious. Meanwhile investors were also awaiting new updates on debt ceiling negotiations in Washington. Chinese shares declined amid resurgence in tensions between the United States and China after China, the world’s second largest economy banned US chip maker Micron from selling its products to Chinese companies working on key infrastructure projects. Data released Tuesday showed Japan's manufacturing activity expanded for the first time in seven months in May and Singapore’s April inflation hit a higher-than-expected 5.7%.
