Asian markets settle mostly lower on Wednesday

24 May 2023 Evaluate
Asian markets settled mostly down on Wednesday, tracking overnight fall in Wall Street shares as another round of US debt ceiling talks ended without resolution. Market sentiments weakened further with expectations that the US central bank will keep interest rates higher for longer this year. Chinese markets dropped amid mounting concerns over the outlook for the Chinese economy. Japanese shares declined despite Japan’s business sentiment among manufacturers turned positive for the first time in 2023.
