Birla Corporation gets nod to undertake manual mining for 4 weeks

Birla Corporation has received permission from Supreme Court to carry out limestone mining operations manually without using any heavy equipment for four weeks from March 18, 2013 to 14, April 2013 at Chanderia in Chittorgarh district of Rajasthan. Such mining activity would be carried out to enable the Central Building Research Institute (CBRI), Roorkie, to study the cumulative impact of the entire mining activities on Chittorgarh Fort and to submit a report to the Supreme Court.

Birla Corporation operates four division cement, jute, vinoleum and auto trim. It has eight manufacturing facilities located in Pune, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Gurgoan, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.
