Asian markets settle mostly lower on Thursday

25 May 2023 Evaluate
Asian markets settled mostly lower on Thursday, tracking Wall Street’s overnight fall as talks between the White House and Republican representatives on raising the US debt ceiling dragged on without a deal. Concerns about the future policy path of the US Federal Reserve also weighed market sentiments. Chinese shares declined slightly after reports of a spike in covid-19 infections in China. However, Japanese shares gained as a weaker yen lifted export-oriented firms.
