Nalco tumbles as Govt fixes divestment floor price at Rs 40 per share

National Aluminium Company (Nalco) is currently trading at Rs. 40.90, down by 3.35 points or 7.57% from its previous closing of Rs. 44.25 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 41.90 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 41.90 and Rs. 40.55 respectively. So far 1827942 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 5 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 63.80 on 02-May-2012 and a 52 week low of Rs. 40.55 on 15-Mar-2013.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 47.45 and Rs. 40.55 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 10528.02 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 87.15% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 9.07% and 3.78% respectively.

Government has fixed a floor price at Rs 40 a share for aluminium major National Aluminium Company (Nalco) disinvestment of 10% stake via offer-for-sale route. The price fixed by Empowered Group of Ministers (EGoM), headed by Finance Minister P. Chidambaram, is at a discount of a little over 10% over Nalco stock’s closing price of Rs 44.25 on Thursday i.e, March 14, 2013.

The offer for sale is scheduled to be held on Friday through a special window on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and National Stock Exchange (NSE).

The government had in November last year deferred disinvestment of Nalco citing poor second-quarter performance which raised valuation concerns and said the stake sale would happen only after the third quarter results.
