Asian markets settled mostly higher on Monday, tracking strong gains on Wall Street last Friday as the latest strong US jobs report and the passage of a debt-ceiling agreement eased fears of a recession in the world's biggest economy. US Data showed that non-farm payrolls soared by 339,000 jobs in May against expectations for an increase of 190,000 jobs. Seoul shares gained as higher US unemployment rate raised hopes that the Federal Reserve would pause interest rate hikes in June. Japanese shares led the gains in Asia amid optimism that the BoJ will maintain ultra-low interest rates at the end of a two-day policy meeting later this month. Meanwhile, a private survey showed Japan's service sector activity expanded at a record pace in May. Chinese shares ended almost flat with positive momentum as a private survey showed China's services activity picked up in May.
