Asian markets settle mostly higher on Monday

12 Jun 2023 Evaluate
Asian markets settled mostly higher on Monday ahead of cues from the US Federal Reserve, People's Bank of China, European Central Bank and Bank of Japan policy meetings. The US Federal Reserve is expected to pause its rate hikes in June amid signs of cooling inflation and slowing economic growth. Market sentiments improved further by tracking the slight gains in Wall Street shares overnight. Japanese shares gained after data showed Japan's wholesale inflation slowed for a fifth consecutive month in May. However, Chinese shares finished marginally lower with signs that China's post-covid economic recovery is losing steam.
