During the year 2012-13, the production of banana stood at 30.28 million tonnes (MT) as against 28.46 MT during 2011-12. The production of banana for the year 2009-10 and 2010-11 stood at 26.47 MT and 29.78 MT respectively.
Tamil Nadu is the top banana producing state producing around 8,016.35 thousand tonnes, followed by the state of Maharashtra and Gujarat producing 4,100.00 thousand tonnes and 4,047.77 thousand tonnes of banana, respectively.
